Chapter 24: Of Marriage and Divorce

2. Marriage was ordained for the mutual help of husband and wife,¹ for the increase of mankind with legitimate issue, and of the church with an holy seed;² and for preventing of uncleanness.³

Genesis 2:18

Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”

Ephesians 5:28

In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

1 Peter 3:7

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Genesis 1:28

And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
