Q 23. What offices doth Christ execute as our redeemer?

A. Christ, as our Redeemer, executeth the offices of a prophet,¹ of a priest,² and of a king,³ both in his estate of humiliation and exaltation.

Q 42. Why was our Mediator called Christ?

A. Our Mediator was called Christ, because he was anointed with the Holy Ghost above measure;⁴ and so set apart, and fully furnished with all authority and ability,⁵ to execute the offices of prophet,⁶ priest,⁷ and king of his church,⁸ in the estate both of his humiliation and exaltation.

Hebrews 4:14-15

Isaiah 9:6-7

For to us a child is born,

and the government shall be upon his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
